Tell us a little bit about Bear Bus. How did it get started?

Bear Bus is the nation’s first mobile stuff your own animal service. There is nothing else like it! We offer guests an opportunity to come right onto the bus to make their own furry friend. We are primarily a birthday party service but we also go to daycares, schools, nursing homes, fairs, company picnics, you name it! We also put FUN back into FUNDRAISERS!

Last year we franchised so that we could give other people the opportunity to have a Bear Bus in their area. We started Bear Bus in 2000 after spending over a year in a mall and spending thousands of dollars on a lease. Then one day a customer invited us to her house for her daughter’s party, she said, “Can you bring everything with you?” The party was a hit and the only thing that could be even better is having the guests come into a special vehicle. A few days later, my husband drove home a little yellow school bus! Literally, our wheels began turning and we envisioned how we wanted it to look.

Is the company a family affair?

Our business is truly a family affair! My husband, Andy, a.k.a. Papa bear is the numbers person, his degree is in Accounting and he also plays head mechanic! Hollie and Karen (hear daughters) are both involved when we are looking for extra hands at fairs and large functions. They also have some input when we are designing new advertisements and they even help answer the phone and book parties
